A Chip On Your Shoulder

A Chip On Your Shoulder

A Poem by Kay

I unwrapped you in a mess of leaves,

sticks and mud, aggression and neglect,

and saw it all -

the bow on your packaging untied,

naked and scratched up.

First, you faked the guise of a composed puzzle;

one whole, but you're just one hole

with shreds of personality

completely incomplete,

grated fragments of a normal mind,

sipping on an alcoholic confidence.

But I see you sprawled in a swamp of helplessness,

and my helping complex wins -

regardless of how many times you bite.

No matter how many times the fool gets played hearts always win. Trust an island anxious to see who comes next. I like this.

Thank you for an insightful review. =)
It is difficult sometimes to see through the reason why people "bite you " when you are trying to be kind, but yes there is usually something that has made them defensive .

Singling out the people who are being defensive because they are hurting from the ones who just wish to use your generous nature can often be difficult..
