My World

My World

A Poem by Kay

You mean the world,

in all its beauty and self-destruction,

    you are it -

an untempered flame, a softly strung river,

the empty sky, the endless stars,

the edge of everything sharp,

the embrace of feathered wings;

you are as dark as death,

yet become the rise of the sun.

You are breath,

    and time,

        and mine.
