A Poem by KayOss
"

I think this poem commemorates the power of words. Though it is an attempt to capture the beauty of words, I think it is impossible to truly capture such beauty. However, the artist in me always strives to try.

"

Out of the pain come something beautiful.
From darkness springs light.
Though it hurts to create,
It's beautiful to behold.
These, my works of art.

It's my voice in the crowd,
My comfort when the silence gets too loud.
It holds me and comforts me,
Brings me back to Earth when I'd drift away.
These, my solemn words.

Creating them gives me pleasure,
Though pain inspires them.
A single line sparks something joyous.
The soul rejoices in creating it.
These, my comforting words.

A single event sparks them.
A thought, a feeling.
The gentle tumble of words.
Alone, they are nothing.
Together, everything.

I agree, "It's my voice in the crowd, / My comfort when the silence gets too loud." are the best lines in this poem. I love it when words contrast like that. You have captured the joy of writing even if that means it spawns from negativity. I understand, definitely. And I certainly enjoyed this!

"My comfort when the silence gets too loud"
Indeed. I understand this line. It encompasses a feeling that I have long had. That line is my reaction to things to many things. I write to heal my soul, to release my soul. When I am unable to or choose not to verbally articulate a feeling or feelings I turn to writing. Many aspects of your poem speak to me, but that line captures my essence.
Thanks.

Oh this is glorious in every way.

"Searching, never finding.
Seeking, no answers.
Past glories, faded riches.
The slow trickle of precious youth."

You grabbed me from the first line.

"Heart unchecked, passion breaking.
Diaries filled with alternate realities.
Wrote a happier life.
One read, never attained."

This stanza really is just magnificent. We all write or imagine the lives we want, but few of us ever achieve it, so new writings, new dreams.

"Crying out in the crowded solitude.
Tears clocked, time spent.
Slowly flowing and fading swiftly away."

Crowded solitude, I know that feeling well.

This is truly one of the best poems I've read here on site. It's a pleasure to read you. Thank you for sharing this.
