A Poem by Penelope Voljeti

You pushed back the
drapes for me so I could
watch the sunset while i lay
in your bed. You played with
my hair as I sniffled and ached, and I
hummed against the silence, fogging
up your window with my breath
I wondered if you noticed my
smile when your fingers got caught
in the tangles of my hair, but the
moment passed and I never thought to
ask. I wish I did. I wish I could have
heard you chuckle afterwards, because I
always thought it was how you told
me you loved me.
