Chasing the dragon

Chasing the dragon

A Poem by KeeD

Superficial highs and existential lows

Truth is I’m a liar, so the story goes

Bamboozled my way into another high

Step into this quagmire of a withered guy

You'll find Shangri-La in my nose

Produced by the white dragons dose

I Inhale his flames daily

His temporary comfort saves me

I speak in morse, spelling out morose

Here's to an anecdote, far from my antidote

The dragon roars within

I must indulge for my will shall never win

White dragon, set me into the evening sun

Where a mother's tears, forms the ocean, that mourns her son

My time has been a travesty in tragedy

The dragon and I have lived in duality

I've been to the dragon's lair briefly in my youth but found disdain in the ashes of friends journies. The only real positive side affect of experience was the ritual got people sharing their inner most thoughts about our world.Your play on words and the tempo of the entire piece is spot on.No one will ever so concisely present this topic with the conviction of your verse.Exceptional piece of work!

I see my review below but I felt, this one deserved another one purely for the sake of the following lines:

White dragon let me set into the evening sun
Where a mother's tears form the ocean that mourns her son

Such pathos! Simply beautiful poetry!

Kee I have no words for your ability to make me feel and not just read your words. You took on a difficult subject, wrote with such emotion and imagery, love it my friend.

Exceptional imagery! I saw the dragon and the narrator become on in the end, I saw and felt the struggle, gorgeous form!

you are so good...it feels so real..the subject is so real...but you put yourself in that person's (the speaker's) shoes...

and we are moved by the Mother crying over the loss of a son---we forget just how much our addictions can end up hurting others...
excellent poem,

j.
