The Poem of the Grocery Store

The Poem of the Grocery Store

A Poem by Mackenzie Knitter
"

Haha, my thought process on a slow day at work.

"
Tick Tock,
Tick Tick,

The poem of the grocery store
Will never be forgot.

As I write this, my pen poised high
In an authoritative manner, as to imply
The importance of my work, the stature of my being,
And I look responsible, mature, but for a moment, if only fleeting.

I write swiftly, looking around
For nothing screams "Don't notice me!"
More than someone focused on the ground.

And yet, my mind wanders, heading offshore,
To all of the adventures I've yet to explore.
I'm so excited for the future, yet I'm extremely bored,

For I have to get there and do my time.
"Working for the man" as they say,
The daily grind.

And so I must leave you now, I've "got work to do"
More like my boss has just come around,
S**t, quick, grab a broom!

*Drops pen and grabs broom*
