Woodland Wonders

I remember well,

When I used to dwell,

In that magical wood,

It felt so good

 

At one with nature,

My early teacher,

Pure and simple,

To this virgin pupil

 

Sunbeams shone,

On oaks and pines,

Luscious grass,

And graceful vines

 

Foxgloves, ferns

And bracken too,

Enriching nature's zoo

 

Sparkling streams,

Like wondrous dreams,

Before my eyes,

I see the skies

 

Which make me ask,

Where my future lies,

On this earth,

Or heaven sublime?

I sometimes pine,

That neither will be mine.....

 

 

Author's Note

I was inspired to write this poem, by some fond childhood memories. It is also a tribute to nature's simplicity and beauty.
