Rightful ego

Rightful ego

A Poem by M.Kilani

They can try
They can leave
They can lie
They can believe
I offer none but a free will
Asylum for the homeless
A cure for the ill
And in the end they'll leave speechless
You can try to use me
I'm willing to give it all
Until you abuse me
I'll step aside and watch you fall
And I'll stand proud
I will stay truthful
Lacking you were found
Once I made you whole you became ungrateful
You can shake your head and deny
You can drown in your own drink
You can't break what you defy
Take a moment and just think
I teach greatness, I teach grace
I took a leap when you took a pace
I pave my road, I made my fate
Yet you still hold your grudge and your hate
Look me in the eye, try to break my pride
Put them emotions all aside
Tell me that my deeds you will forget
Tell me you'll leave without regret
I grew a man long ago
Another in my place would've been broken
None of childish games I know
The secrets I know will remain unspoken
I knew no greed
I had no need
All I did was out of desire
And you are a spark beside my fire
Yet I was humble, I always have been
Ego you can call it, but I have the right to be proud
You'll need two lives to know what I've seen
My whispers do echo, while your scream has no sound
Still you want to insult?
Defend your own fault?
I ask you not to, like many others before
Someone will answer if you knock the devil's door
This is not what it seems
Don't be afraid
I've fulfilled my dreams
What have you made?
