Wanderers of the night

Wanderers of the night

A Poem by M.Kilani

And I left the world for those who can see
I enter darkness to see the light
Leaving light for those who understand words of god
As I await for the soul to break free

We've left the sun above the sea
And the waters now we dread to invade
We welcome plague of hatred
We accept sorrow and leave it be

Sad violins play as we smile bright
As we seek the things that entertain
But heavy the hearts of coal remain
Lonesome prays for the wanderers of the night

We parted to places we've never been
Forests of grief and rivers of sighs
Seeking secrets of the sacred sun
Hiding what they have never seen

We've shut the light we wanted to see
We've killed the hope we wanted to be
We all became someone else
What have world done to us?

Weren't we wanderers of the night
Seekers of the light and refuge for all
The life that comes along with our sight
Buried now behind a concrete wall

We take no pride of what we've achieved
As we denounce the dream conceived
And now we regret wanting the same
As we hide in our forests of blame, forests of shame

To me, this is almost an apology for humankind as a whole, the way we've lived and the way we continue to do so. The apathy we sow and the rewards we reap as a result of that. Profound and well written. I love the line "I enter darkness to see the light", brilliantly oxymoronic. Very well written!

The above lines are sad and powerful. Hard to lose regret and know forgiveness. Love is tender and we must be careful. Some wounds cannot heal. I loved the last two poems. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.
