Burning sighs

Burning sighs

A Poem by M.Kilani

Burning sighs

Click, spark, and flame
A cigarette then I light
Mother calling my name
And life more I fight

“Why obsessed of cigarettes?” asks a friend
Inhale and breathe a sigh
“Closer I am to be dead “
Oh I wish that I would die

Warmth at home is what I seek
Yet found it in my cigarette under the rain
Inhale more poison as I speak
Poison that eases the pain

For it covers my aching sighs
In the absence of my alcohol
My smiles turned to lies
Again now I fall

Smoke, tar, and toxin air
All to fell me inside
Cigarettes are my friends, always there
Hope I cannot find

Wash it all away, but there is no rain
Smoke it all away, and cause physical pain
Cry it all away, eyes of tears I drain
Laugh it all away, laugh and go insane

Exit my lungs and enter my mind
Dark is the heart, empty inside
Black is the world, and I know I’m not blind

Oh holy amber let it burn
Let me forget the ones I yearn
Be my light until the dawn
Be my friend when I’m alone

Oh holy smoke be my mask
Be the answer for what they ask
Be the cloud of acid rain
Washing my tears, easing my pain

I really LOVE this, this is remarkable! I love how you created amazing emotion to captured rhyme more emphasised! The meaning of this poem is embracing and people may think smoking, drink, drugs etc. is bad for people, but people may not know the problems or pain they are facing. They need comfort and forget everything while they do these crazy things, because emotional pain is so hard to deal with, so many can relate
Awesome peom 100/100

Wow... That is by far the best poem I've read about smoking... And I agree with Hannah Paige. That is a great line.

I understand why people smoke. Smoking can relax you and can calm the nerves. When I need to think. I enjoy a good cigar and quiet. I like this poem. Cigarette can steal your hunger also. Poor mother had no money. But could afford cigarettes. A powerful poem. I like the ending. A outstanding poem.

Perhaps the most depressing poem about smoking that I've read. Never had the habit, but this certainly puts it in a perspective I hadn't heard before. Nicely written...

Praying to the smoke...ingenius. Cause to me it means you pray to whatever will take it away faster, your pain, since it is bad enough that you can't wait for the prayers of God to be answered, or the strenght to take life over for yourself...
'let me forget the one i year, be my light until the dawn, be my frined when i'm alone'...its my new prayer! -- very good work!
