Of child and wolf

Of child and wolf

A Poem by M.Kilani

Tonight I speak not for myself nay about me
Tonight I speak of the wolf trapped inside thee

Or is it a man that is locked inside
Came back to dark ages that he has left behind

That dark rage I can feel with every vain mourn I hear
Wolf’s or man’s, I can’t tell, and that brings me fear

I fear no wolf’s rage nay I fear man’s pain
More I fear that of wolf’s death, and the man going insane

Though the man is a beast for love welling to die
The wounded wolf of no love, somehow had to cry

In land of no lords boys slaughtered a wolf, hit him with golden darts
Until black blood dripped of his mouth, black as their hearts

Except for one, the friend of wolf, as I have a wolf of my own
He ran away from them and stood all alone

Tonight, the boy weeps for the end of innocence and the darkness of men's hearts, not for the wounded wolf

And awake now he stays, counting his wounds and their darts, telling a story of how the child was the wolf.

:( that's sad... true of the underlying meaning but sad nonetheless.

A vivid mix of poetic and myth... this resonated strongly. The wolf is often a metaphor for loneliness and desolation, which is odd because of its pack nature... but it works somehow. Perhaps because of its mournful howl, that cry of grief that a man can hide inside...

A very good tale. The mystery of the wolf and human is always a great story. I like the conflict and the ending. To have the spirit of a wolf would be very cool. A excellent poem.

I can see two different story lines in this. One of a boy's coming of age and facing the harsh reality of life and I saw a story of a werewolf. Either way, I think this is outstanding.

Once again bigger print though that's just a suggestion...anyway,
I like the
"Tonight I speak not for myself nay about me
Tonight I speak of the wolf trapped inside me"
part it's for some reason what caught my attention,k but everyone likes to read different things. I wrote something like this as well lol it's called "Stranger"
But I guess great minds think alike..lol
Nice job I'm putting this in my favorites!
