A White Horse

A White Horse

A Poem by Daydreamer
"

Because of him, I know my strength...

"

A legacy deeply rooted into the Earth,

His soul inspires

Every aspect of my integrity.

All the goodness

Inside my heart

Has been a product

Of his seeds sown,

In a bitter winter.

Grandfather,

I know you are tired,

I know your body aches,

And most of what you remember

Has been the result of War.

As your health deteriorates,

I hope you know,

You are never alone.

For I am always watching over you.

Each night I sit outside your door

Holding a sword of protection,

On my benevolent white horse.

wow this is a poem deeply felt by the reader...not only a tribute to the man, but also how much he gave the speaker in strength and in example...

what he remembers is the result of war, and you are his knight on the white horse to protect him as he "does not go gently into that good night."

I love this reverence for ancestors and sacrifice for elders. It's something in the West here that we lack quite sadly times. Great write.

I liked this a lot. Your grand was your hero and liked the way you used the white horse to show this.
