Where did June go?

Where did June go?

A Poem by Kimberly Smith

The class was quite you hear the clock ticking

Its was thundering and the lights were flickering

the door swung open at the crack of noon

The principle walks in and says “Hi students we have a friend his name is
June”

He stands there badge corduroys soaked at the bottom , spider man shirt his
bald head with a red cap with a blue folder red flap

I remember it like it was yesterday ,because maybe it was that same scene
rewinds in my dreams

As you sat in the seat next to mine, not longer after a best fiend is what
ill find

Mrs. Crocker stood up in shout his from the children’s hospital and his
name is June the reason his here is because his never been in school.

After every stared and asked thousands of questions he answered it s
brave

The bell rung and everyone left at the flash of the flickering lights

As I left the class , your stood there waiting

You stopped me and asked you live in my neighborhood

I said no I don’t think so I’ve never seen you before

You said yea I know im always in the hospital , but I remember when I first
seen you., you were playing vet with you dog on you porch , he had bandage
all over his fur

We both laugh and headed toward the door

I remember every day we would walk home together

And I would always ask you what is cancer

and you would always give me a different answer

You were my first friend , and first kiss

Oh how much of you I will miss

Like when we would lay on the grass and look up at the sky and watch the
planes pass bye

Like while ill be name the shapes of clouds you’ll be spaced out wishing
you could fly

You would always say those clouds don’t seem so high

As time goes bye and a friendship grows deeper every weekend and holiday we
spent together

You went to the hospital and you never came back

Every walk home seems long

Every boyfriend after you seems wrong

The things I miss I could list

You made me look forward summertime

And now I hate that season

For all of these reasons

Its hot, the clouds are always out

around that time people love to fly and all of those damn bug

Why does summer always come but June never does.

but then you went and were never back, every walk home was never the same..all boys after you seemed so strange
always looked for summer time..now how i hate that season..always summer will come, but June never will

How can you write like this? This is a story and it's an epic and (sorry if I'm using the same words over from my last review) it's an absolutely brutally simple and fatally honest poem. The way you just come out with these facts and give them a deep and beautiful pertinence... wow! And then those little rhymes that make this writing exquisite. I'm sorry, I can't do this work justice because I can't write like you. This is dangerously near perfect.
