Chapter 6: A Twisted Phenomenon

A strange meeting has happened with John

After that night I’ve been fired up to practice since its Saturday I called a practice with the band at noon and messaged everyone that we can’t lose no matter what we must win and everyone said that they will come. After I ate my breakfast I go straight to the studio and clean it up, set the equipment up. As I’m done with the setting of the equipment, Zeke arrived then said “Morning John, Wow! You’re here earlier than I thought” Zeke said after arriving. “Yeah, I’m kind of excited to practice with you guys” I said with a smile “You’re really focused aren’t you? To win this whole thing.” Zeke said sarcastically. “Yeah, I need to win no matter what the cost is” I said seriously. Zeke began to be curious because of what I said back there but he didn’t asked about it since I’ll deny it and after 15 minutes has passed Krishna arrived and said “Hey John, Good Morning” she greeted cheerfully. “Good Morning Krishna, you’re pretty happy than usual” I said sarcastically. “Of course seeing you being fired up liked this that makes me happy since I know that you’re serious about this band and it’s future” she said with a smile. “Of course I’ll be serious about this, I mean this band means the most to me and I can’t have us losing now since our band members is exceptionally talented” I said seriously. After that everyone arrived and we started practicing until 6 pm and when practice is finished we go home immediately since we are drained from practicing as I was walking home someone shouted “JOHN!!!” it shouted, when I looked back I saw my former classmate and the 3^rd elite performer last year Diana then she hugged me saying “It’s good to see you again, I missed you” she said cheerfully. “Diana? What are you doing here?” I asked her while blushing and surprised about her sudden arrival. “I came to see you of course and invite you to join my band” she said to me with a smile “Thanks for the offer but I’m afraid I have to decline” I said seriously “Why??” she asked curiously “I have my band now and I can’t just abandon them” I said seriously “That’s too bad, well then let’s just see if you can defeat us” she said seriously “Yeah we will” I said seriously “Hmm is that so? Why don’t we make a bet?” she proposed to me “what kind of bet?” I asked “If we win you’ll join my band for the Battle of the Bands this coming August” she said to me “And what if you lose?” I asked “I’ll join your band” she said to me confident that she’ll win. I know that this is a trap prepared by the Master of Mind Games, Diana is really a good performer and a leader and her band members are all elite of their respective schools as I was thinking of what my answer will be. She suddenly said “I’ll let you think about it John but after 2 days you must have an answer”  “Okay I’ll give you my answer after 2 days” I said to her seriously. Then she said goodbye and wished us luck at the Battle of The Bands this coming August. They’re beginning to show themselves the 10 elite performers last year and are ready to crush us but I’ll be the one who will defeat them no matter what. The following day we started another practice and my mind is still confused about what happened yesterday I can’t really think of Diana’s motives why does she want me on her band that badly, there are many performers that are greater than me yet why would she go far as making a bet with me just for me to join her band. As I was thinking about it Kate suddenly asked me “What’s wrong John?” “Nothing” I replied faking a smile pretending that I was okay but I’m not “Really?” she asked once more “Yeah” I replied once again “That doesn’t look like okay to me” she said with a serious face “What made you think that?” I asked curiously “You looked like you’re thinking something and you’re not usually like that” she said “How come? How did you know” I replied being shocked about what she said “We’re friends right? So I know when you’re not feeling well or something troubling you so that’s why you need to tell us we will help you of what it may be” she said wearing a smile letting me know that they got my back no matter what after hearing that I suddenly called a band meeting after the practice and there I told them what will happen if we lose the Battle of the Bands this coming August  and I asked them if we should accept Diana’s proposal if we lose, I will join her band and if we win she’ll join ours  then suddenly Krishna said “Accept her challenge, we will defeat her band and the 10 elite performers band as well, listen John I’m not going to let it slide what she said and I’m not afraid of them even if they are the greatest performers in the world, we won’t let you join their band and we will not let them underestimate us” she said seriously. “You’re right Krishna, I’ll go say that to her we will win and we accept her challenge” I said with full of confidence. Suddenly a surprising arrival that I didn’t expect came that day, it’s Diana she arrived at our studio and she said “Wow you got yourself great members after all, no wonder you don’t want to leave them but since you accepted my challenge we cannot let up and remember this John, I’ll make you join my band no matter what.” With her fierce eyes stared at me and we felt that her aura is strong and she really is confident of her band that certain marks the start of the battle ahead of us, we cannot let our guard down not one bit the stakes are high for the battle of the bands this year but as a representative band of our school we cannot be defeated by anyone even the elite 10 performers as the days come short for practice and only 1 month left for the battle of the bands all the pressure is on our shoulders but no matter what we cannot be defeated we will win the battle of the bands and make our mark as the greatest band of all time after the practice and encounter yesterday I hardly had enough sleep, I’m still wondering why Diana wants me to join her band this smells fishy what is her goal…. It’s true that I had feelings for her it was last 2 years when we were in Grade 9 I was captivated by her talents and brains that surpasses normal human beings and her kindness that rivalled the kindness of a goddess when I’m with her my heart race faster and faster seeing her smile makes my heart race so fast I almost had a heart attack we were close friends back then but that changed when an incident occurred, we were walking by the alley late at night because we had a project to finish that day but while walking a stranger grab her bag and took it she had all her things in there including her wallet. I chased the robber and thankfully I caught up to him once I did I tackled him but I didn’t know that the robber had  a knife luckily I dodge it in time and kick the robber in the face instantly knocking him out and when I got the bag back. I heard a loud scream and ran as fast as I can to see what was going on and I saw Diana surrounded by three large men she is looking scared once I saw her terrified look in her face I rushed there and blocked the hand of the men that was about to touch her and said “What are you doing b*****d?” with a serious look “Huh? We were just inviting her to have some fun” the man said with a grim on his face and that pissed me off and instantly punched the man in the stomach knocking him out in one blow then his two lackeys charged at me with their knives and was able to dodge one of them but one of them got me in my hand that was when it hit me the personality that I never notice before wanting to protect Diana an instinct has been triggered and instantly I knocked out the two men with one single blow and approached Diana and said “It’s okay now Diana you’re safe” looking at her eyes and instantly hug her and she said “Thank you John” while crying because of shock and hugging me tightly and when we were about to go home I suddenly collapsed and once I regain consciousness I was at the hospital and my hand is healed up, I found Diana sleeping beside me I know that she look after me all these days I smiled and pat her head carefully to not wake her but after that day she didn’t talk to me ever since… That’s why my mind is conflicted why she want me to join her band after not talking to me a year but even if she wants me to I will not because I made up my mind I’ll not abandon my band. We were going to fight the three elite 10 performers at the Battle of the Bands this coming August the Top 1 Rachel, Top 3 Diana, and lastly Top 10 Rei. I’ll fight with my band now with Krishna, Zeke, Lex, Lance and Kate. Only 3 days remain before the start of the Battle of The bands, the start of our battle against the elite 10 performers, the showdown for the title to represent our school in the National Battle of the Bands. The day of our last rehearsal we gave it our all and practice ourselves until night and once we were done I found Kate standing at the balcony gazing at the beautiful stars in the sky and I approached her and asked “Are you Okay?” “Yeah I’m fine just nervous for tomorrow” she answered with a calm voice “Tomorrow is the start of our battle” I said to her sarcastically “Hahaha Yeah! Are you ready John?” she said joyfully “Yeah but let’s not worry for tomorrow the night is beautiful isn’t it?” I asked calmly “Yeah it is that’s why I’m gazing on it, it lets me relax” she said “Maybe you’re right it is beautiful, it still amazes me on how the beautiful is our world” I said “Yeah” she said “Kate if we win the battle of the bands I have something to tell you” I said seriously “What is it?” she asked “I’ll tell you if we win the battle of the bands” I said cheerfully “Okay” she said “It’s a promise” I said “Yeah I promise” she said. The promise that we made that night is the inspiration that motivates me to win the battle of the bands her smile, her voice, and her laugh; I want to protect it and I want to fill the void of darkness in her heart, Kate I’ll fill in that void in your heart I’ll make sure of it that is the promise I made myself that night. We’ll win and I’ll never leave my band we will crush the bands of the elite 10 performers.
