My Garden of Paradise

My Garden of Paradise

A Poem by Kitty

A quiet day alone at home.
The sky outside is an enchanting blue
With no clouds in sight.
Warm sun rays filter through the trees.
Those luscious green leaves,
Which turned brown and red in the autumn months,
Float ever so gently to the ground.
A sudden gust of wind
Disturbs the quiet piece.
Birds flap their wings intensely
In a vain attempt to fight against the wind.

The wind dies down
And the birds are free again,
And the stillness is restored.
The quiet is peaceful and relaxing;
The rays are warm and comforting;
The birds' chirps are soft and humbling
As I sit in my garden of paradise.

The wind picks up again
And it brings gray bundles of cloud with it.
There is a rumble in the distance,
A rumble of thunder,
As the horizon turns a darker shade of blue.
The wind becomes fiercer
As it brings darker bundles of cloud.
A deep, dark gray consumes the horizon
And that enchanting blue sky starts to disappear.

The rumbling becomes louder,
The sky becomes darker
As the storm pushes its way closer.
Lightning brightens up the dark horizon
As it bounces off the clouds.
The birds once again fight their way
Through the vicious gusts of wind,
As I sit in my garden of paradise.

A bright streak of lightning
Fills the sky with light.
The deep, mournful thunder
Disturbs the quiet yet again.
Every last speck of that enchanting blue
Is now replaced by darkness.
The birds hide in the low branches of the trees
To escape from the frightening sights and sounds.

Tiny drops of water
Start falling to the Earth.
The storm is finally here,
Frightening all life away.
The little insects
Seek shelter under rocks
As the drops come down
On my garden of paradise.
The wind blows fiercely
And the rain suddenly stops.
All the animals and insects come out of hiding
As the thunder rumbles in the distance once again.
The wind pushes the dark bundles of cloud,
Lightening still flashing inside them,
To the next destination of the storm.

It is once again
A quiet day alone at home.
The sky's colour has returned to the enchanting blue.
There is no longer a cloud in sight.
Warm rays filter through the trees yet again,
As I sit in my garden of paradise.

A truly beautiful and contemplative piece of writing.
Your descriptions make it seem so real in my thoughts.
A great piece.
