Slave to Self-Harm

Slave to Self-Harm

A Poem by Kitty

I bow before thee,
Oh Blade, so sharp and glistening.
I go down on my knees
Humbled in the awe of your presence.
Your power -
Unsurpassed -
Has ordered me to stand before thee,
My life a gift to thee.
My soul a sacrifice for thee.
Now, down on my knees,
My head bowed in praise,
I watch, as from my wrists
The blood flows;
Scarlet streams
Of promises made.
I feel honoured
To have had the pleasure
Of your gentle touch;
Honoured to have had my life taken
By one as amazing as you.
I am your slave,
And, as I lay here bleeding -
A proclamation of your greatness -
I bow my head a final time,
And slip into the darkness
That I now call my home...

So powerful in its darkness and despair, dripping like blood down my screen... Haunting to think that despair could seduce us into giving up all that is dear and precious, piercing into our souls like blades and stealing our hope for a new sunrise... Awesome write!
