Just a Teenager

This was inspired my Maia Mayors "Perfect"(Which is like the best slam poem I've ever heard!!!!!). It the same parent perspective sort of thing. Hope you like it...

You are just a teenager.

You lead a life of dismay,

and apparently you don't know how to obey.

you wouldn't make it a day, 

in the real world.

You wonder why you don't get a say in your life,

yet you don't realize that your throwing it away.

When will you realize that your throwing your life away?

You are just a teenager. 

It's time to grow up.

Quit acting like there's room to back up

every time that you make a mistake.

There isn't enough room in the world to mess up anymore.  

You need to stop screwing up, 

And maybe then you won't be just a teenager. 

But for now,

You are just a teenager.

A spoiled rotten teenager, who can't work for her life. 

You b*tch and complain, while I work in spite of the ache. 

You live a life of vain.

I did not give you a home, 

just so you could sit around and be on your phone.

You need to work, and help, and put some effort into being a part of this family. 

No daughter of mine will be as ungrateful as you. 

You need appreciate all that I do, 

all you care about is yourself,

get over yourself. 

I'm so tired and done, with the way you act,

and the way you talk to me.

Why don't you love me? 

Am I not good enough for you? 

If you can't learn to be thankful, then you don't deserve to be here. 

You are just a teenager.

You need to remember that. 

Remember where you stand. 

Don't talk back to me, 

I don't care what you have to say. 

Do what I tell you, don't try to argue,

you won't get your way. 

You are just a teenager. 

I don't understand what's wrong with you. 

Why can't you talk to me?

I'm trying to understand you, I'm trying to be there for you. 

But

You are just a teenager.

You've never felt pain. 

You've got a perfect life. 

I gave you, a perfect life.

So don't act like your hurting,

because you aren't allowed to be hurting.

Don't tell me about your anxiety,

because you don't know anxiety.

Don't give me those excuses,

Because you don't know anything. 

You are just, a teenager.

This poem is so related to my life. My parents act like this all the time even though I do help out in the family. I practically raise myself. My parents hardly talk to me.

Well I love this poem, in this poem I can find each and every complaint that my mom sometimes have when I annoy her. But seriously I am not that bad as this teenager. I really like it.
