The Parting Of I

The Parting Of I

A Poem by Emunah June.

I'm a defective model

The numbers on my back have faded

And whats left

Is simply the shell of me

A nothing, an emptiness

No safehaven

No sanctuary

Nothing in that shell

Is worth saving

I'm piecing apart

One by one

I'm slowly breaking down

To my basic building blocks

No longer eukaryotic

No longer complex

I'm burning up inside

Desperatly

Reaching for the cool sun

The light of freedom to cleanse the pain

But I'm broken once more

Down to ashes

Surely prokaryotic

Here I stand

But no for long

Singing a song that no one knows

Crying and screaming, but no one can hear

And now I'm gone

Gone

Gone

Gone...
