The day the sand dunes withdrew

The day the sand dunes withdrew

A Poem by Christie Moses
"

There is a space that is never filled...a void where all the darkness flows. That is where alone resides.

"

it is

dense as fog at two a.m. in fresno

and

arid as parched tongues in sahara

here

within this myriad miles of void

empty sand stitched patchwork

like honeyed fingers of

such an arresting nothing

solitude with his southern diction

(wily one

is ever present in this sting of tumbleweeds

he kicks his seductive heels up

pulling his hat brim low

takes a rough hand in

drawing long and slow on his fine cigar

smoke swirls seep this bluegrass wind

his stern lips of retribution pursed

the smooth croon from his acoustic

drifts like heavy nostalgia

breaking her like cracked up roots

onto the sweat stained earth

gathering to the suffering

 of forgotten....

seldom in rememberance of....

and eyes that never will forget

here is the realm she travels

like regret and naked feet

to his magnetic and vagrant beat

Driving south from Fresno offers some of the best desert riding imaginable; the road is flat, the wind sometimes objectionable, the sand soul-stealing, and the sunshine incredibly arrogant...through it all man is it fun...!!

Your poetic insight is amazing...!

Excellent...!

This moves over the reader with the deepest mood and ambience... It pleads for more.. so much is said in the unsaid story... Brilliant visions in those last lines...

Enjoyed this very much. You have some really nice lines here, in particular I was moved by the sorrow-laden 4th stanza. Having lived right outside of Fresno for 10 years, I associate that area more so with fog than smog! Nicely done.

Loved the imagery in this, like a journey
into the unknown. The last stanza says
it all...nice work Christie xx
