The Chain

The Chain

A Poem by Kris Merrells
"

This is still one of my favourites, so I decided to "restore" it.

"

You were the one who walked away

Because you knew I could never leave you

I still wear the chain

It reminds me of the love

With which it was given to me

I cherish that still

…we laid in the leaves

staring up at the clouds

till the evening faded them away

dreaming in words

we were holding hands

you always blushed

when we kissed…

very sweet...i liked the line .."staring at the clouds till the evening faded them away" it brought the
first clear and important image to my mind while reading the poem. i also liked the way you put the chain line alone. it's important. good job...

i liked this -- the simple idea of a chain is quite an evocative image. the emotions you explore resonate strongly through the rest of the imagery as well and that penultimate stanza is great.
