Elisa

Elisa

A Poem by Kristan A. Mohammed
"

Dedicated to a very close friend of mine.

"

Elisa

"Ever felt like you need someone to define you?"
                                                                                       -Elisa Hamilton

She sings to me through words I can’t believe,

Songs of better days and things I can’t perceive.

Blue feathers fall from up above like raining kites,

She tells me to stay strong,

But she can’t take her own advice.

Pull with me to cut the endless rope,

The noose that sways you breaks to give you hope.

You’re pineapple-shaped bubble deep under the sea,

Your wingless angel told me you wish to be free.

I see into your soul though I can’t see your face,

I hear your voice through words from lines you’ve left untraced.

Let my words wash over you.

Define you.

Powerful though short. Interesting that you color-coded your stanzas though, I don't quite know why you did so. As always, the word choice and figurative language is elegant and beautiful. Great job!

She's a very special friend.
Oh my....the warmth in every line of this poem is so very lovely! Not sure I liked the changing color of the font, but the imagery is stunning. My favorite lines are "You’re pineapple-shaped bubble deep under the sea,
Your wingless angel told me you wish to be free." Words can be such a comfort. You obviously care for her....deeply. Enchantingly emotional. Lydi**

Thank you so much. I'm glad you liked it.
This is a hauntingly emotional write and I feel there is more going on "between the lines" than the words perhaps convey. A very interesting write Kristan! ~Sharon
