Lavender Lips

Lavender Lips

A Poem by Kristan A. Mohammed
"

We always lose those whom we wish to keep the most.

"

Don’t leave me here.

I’ve fallen short.

Broken, battered,

Bruised and beaten.

But lie to me.

Tell me I’ll survive.

Without you.

Lavender lips hydrate mine,

Poisoning me with calm.

Swords of solace release me.

Like the taste of sweet nicotine.

All the riddles left unsolved,

All the answers lost.

Closed is the road,

I must journey through.

Dry is the river,

Leading to you.

How easy can it be?

For you to forget me.

Make me another memory,

Like a leaf without a tree.

I look into your eyes,

And see what you saw in me.

Look into my eyes,

What do you see?

I’ve lost it all,

I’ve sunken low.

I’ve hit rock bottom,

So long ago.

Lost my home to run to,

The only one who…

I cannot lose.

No. Not you.

Please not you.

I cannot lose you too.

And I don’t miss you.

No…I don’t.

No. I don’t.

But oh how I do.

Holy s**t. I absolutely love it. This piece is so beautifully relatable. The second, third and last stanzas are my favorite. So original and profound. Once again, I tip my hat to you, sir. Keep writing.

Well I'll definitely be checking those out.
You say there's not a lot of imagery? Yes there is! I see plenty here. Great work and excellent expression of emotion. You did really good. I feel the sadness pretty well.

Thanks a lot Tessa. Your thoughts are well appreciated.
I liked this a lot I think though it didn't show imagery as you said it showed emotion and that can be equally as effective. The feeling of wanting someone gone but then not wanting to miss them is very relatable to a lot of people. Though you may want them out of your head they just won't leave.
