Mired World

Mired World

A Poem by Krystal Jones
"

Was thinking about the vices I have used to cover some of the pains I have experienced, and this is what came out.

"

I let my heart go wandering
through this mired world.
What tangled webs we weave
when the lights go off.

When the demons become too great,
liquid haze clears the slate
Fly away on wings of sound
knowing that tonight I did not drown.

In this moment
it all became so clear;
so solid became my fear.
The price to pay far too dear
took a long hard look in the mirror.

All this perpetuates
is running away
and further from my goals I stray
with each passing day.
