Get Up! Get Up!

Written for my friends who are scared to leave their hometown and try new things.

Get up! Get up! The sun has arisen!

Let’s leave this house, this confined prison,

Don’t you know a whole world awaits for you?

Take a leap of faith, there’s so much to do!

 

I know you fear the outside world my friend

But what will that do for your life in the end?

Years of boredom and nothing to show for it

Don’t let that happen! Get your inner fire lit!

 

Pack your car; mount your bike, take a step, please!

Be that kind of man who lives in all he sees

Beautiful sights, wondrous smells, waiting for you

There’s nothing out there you can’t choose to do!

 

Just sitting in a house will help you not

And your life will be a very boring lot

Take a risk, grab my hand, and let’s go!

Let’s go outside and see what the world has to show!

I like it...and I know how difficult it is to try to envisage doing something new anyway. I like how conversational your poem is: it is so direct...i could have sworn that you were hitting someone with a pillow and drawing open the curtains to let in some sunlight..it is good medicine for those who are too scared to move.
