Hollow

Hollow

A Poem by Kyle J. Lawson
"

The void of loneliness.

"
Insipid and shallow, is a heart of dust
Rough and tattered, from core to crust

Jagged the wall
Barbed the base
Rubbed so raw
Crushed by hate

Thorns like frost, nipping the flesh
Flower turned stone, a cumbersome rest

Tormented by lust
Wretched and sour
Filled with mistrust
Every waking hour

You use a restrictive rhyme...and the feel is hollow like I believe you intended the reader to absorb as one read this verse...getting at the point of which you quote in the Author's note...of struggle and loneliness...

I like the fast pace and the punchy rhythm of this poem. It feels very defensive, as lonely individuals often are.
