The Code

The Code

A Poem by LMWrites
"

love and lies

"

If I remembered the quadratic

Equation I’d apply it here:

I have always adored your ugly.

Cherished your nothings.

Supported those strong legs that

Kick mine and leave me

Kneeling. Kneeling. Kneeling

To gather the broken glass chips

With bloody fingers

If I remembered to color

Love

It’d be red; same as what leaks from

Those runny, bloody, broken fingers

If I forget to give you love

I’m sorry

If honey never left those lips to touch

My ears

You meant it

If I had to forget a few things, it’d be

This:

Words that punch

Fingers that bleed

Hearts that cry

It’s hard though,

I remembered I told you

I hated cracking codes,

‘cause love should be easy…

Love should be as easy as breathing. So they say. Love is work. No matter the relationship. However, there shouldn't be a price tag on it. When it's cost you nothing but heartache and complete misery then it's not a proper investment of time. This was raw. It really cut into the vulnerable part in the speaker and resonated with me. Strong writing. Great read.
