Stupid Tree Huggers

Stupid Tree Huggers

A Poem by Lola Nation

I can’t see the forest,

I come across each tree

chopping wildly in all directions

only making dents,

puffing breath, veins bulging purple

full of exasperation.

I wish you weren’t hugging them,

it would make this so much easier

and less painful for you.

Houses of brick, hemp paper and garments!
All one needs trees for is to build a fence.

But remember what Henry David Thoreau said, "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil...to every ONE who is chopping at the root." One does not treat a disease by its symptoms but rather determines the disease by the symptoms and then goes after the big problem. Not enough of THAT if one asks me...and ...even if one doesn't. lol So often I think...the world is full of metaphor...then I go and add one more! lol
