Power of The Eyes

Power of The Eyes

A Poem by Lacey

A flock of evil crows stare down on me

I can sense the power of judgement in their beady eyes

Afraid to move or speak I stand in silence

If only they could see the real me underneath

They would see that there’s more to me than the color of my darker complexion

They would see my true beauty and worth

My inner innocence and hopefulness

They would see that I’m not different than them

We are all the same

Children of God

But the evil crows keep staring

The power of their eyes growing stronger

My heart fills with fear

Until a hand grabs on to mine

And we all form a line

A color blind army from dark to light

Stands together hand in hand

To take down the power of the eyes.
