I see you

creepily crawl across my mind

unable to squash you

I keep you caged in a secret compartment 

and try to forget the pain you cause

but, some days you escape 

and haunt my precious memories 

poisoning my mood and happiness 

until I can finally push you back into your compartment 

and restore my inner peace

you are a pesky reminder of my painful past

and if I could squash the thought of you
