After Our Love Had PassedA Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne
After our love had passed So many words that cut and bled I had to stop thinking we could last I’ll try to forget the desire to hear love from your lips As I sit and think of all the sadness we brought Trying to forget our tender lips that once kissed
I have to forget the softness and smiles from you A misty view from eyes filled with tears I’ll try not to love you as much as I do
I loved you dear heart for so many years Saddened by all the promises that faded and died As painful memories come into play Knowing we’ll never walk together side by side
Trying to find a way for my heart’s malaise To accept the end of us on this warm, autumn day Of our star crossed love that could not last
Perhaps things we didn’t want to happen But had to learn to accept T hings we didn’t want to know Of you and I , Thinking we couldn’t live without one another But had to realize we needed to let go
I cry for the times you were almost mine I cry for the memories we left behind I cry for the pain, the loss, the old, the new I cry for the timesI thought I had you... But never really did ________________________________
Authors note: Love shouldn’t hurt so much Losing someone hurts, rejection hurts But we shouldn’t confuse this with love Love should not be selfish It should be patient and kind It is not self-seeking It should protect, trust, hope and always persevere Because in reality ' True Love' is the only thing That covers all the pain And makes us feel
