Through the Eyes of The Addict's Angel

Through the Eyes of The Addict's Angel

A Poem by LadyAnn68

Through the Eyes of an Addict’s Angel

She watches overwhelming sound waves that mirrors agony and pain,

Inwardly her learned natural instincts alienates her crying-reaching-out heart,

Blending together each family member to another link of the devastating chain,

And the total trust and belief feels there’s no point to even start.

But the Angel knows of the darkness,

When the nighttime sky is starless,

Through the eyes of the Addict’s Angel

She witnesses NO light!

So the angel listens to each and every story never seeming to end,

They all have something worthy of nothing to say,

Yet none of the family relations takes even a moment to spend,

On anything productive for themselves or the addict that or any day.

But the Angel knows of the darkness,

And when the nighttime sky is starless,

Through the eyes of the Addict’s Angel,

She witnesses NO light!

Together they grope for an “ol” mathematic concept that still remains,

Addicts and Angels feel it, the starting place,

But ironically it is called a “Universal Constant”, and regains,

But for it to happen, “CHANGE” can only go at the addicts pace.

But the Angel knows of the darkness,

And when the sunshine is like a pastel page,

Through the eyes of the Addict’s Angel,

She witnesses the first signs of the change.

Putting together that which is broken is always tough,

With the addict it takes tedious hours of empathy,

The addict must make the first move, which is rough,

The angel then can have some sympathy.

But the Addicts Angel knows the darkness,

And when the nighttime sky is starless,

She senses when the addict is hit,

And the smallest of candles is finally lit.

Through the eyes of the Addicts Angel

She begins to see the bright candle shine,

And she knows in time he could be fine,

Through the eyes of the Addicts Angel it was all worth her time!

This hits too close to home, heavy sigh here. My son is a recovering addict. Brilliant poem with a message that needs to be heeded.

'Blending together each family member to another link of the devastating chain'

Is is so devastating for anyone to watch this destruction happening. Brava for having the courage to write this one, and give addiction angels a voice.

Awww....but you live him and that is what makes the difference...my parents NEVER gave up!
I am proud that you are now an addict's angel and now live to serve others.
That is awesome!!

I see a few tiny mistakes that I would correct, but this is your work, and maybe
you chose to write it the way you did for a reason. Please always check to see
if the reviewer is correct because I could be wrong!!
+sound waves that mirror
+natural instincts alienate
+crying, reaching-out heart
+You forgot the ' in the last stanza in Addict's.

I enjoyed the content!

This is a wonderfully written poem, the perfectly chosen words portray powerful emotion and struggle, a clear and well spoken message, many can learn from this, if only I had these wise words a year or so ago, great poem, a new favourite of mine :)

To which I say: go for it :p
Your are embarking on a great and noble mission in life to get the proper education of addiction psychology and help others in the fight that will destroy them and others eventually if they do not become clean and free.
Thank you for shedding the light on this important subject in society. Wishing you all the good luck and more power to you...:).......

Yep. You are welcome...:)........................
I could feel the thoughts and struggle in your words. Sometime hard to see the good in a new day.
"But the Angel knows of the darkness,
And when the sunshine is like a pastel page,
Through the eyes of the Addict’s Angel,
She witnesses the first signs of the change."
The above lines stood for me in the poem. You must understand pain to grasp the vision and the struggle of another person. The poem is well written and allowed the reader to feel and know the struggle. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.

Thank you Amos. I hope you understood this one.
There is still so much stigma attached to being an addictive personality. If you aren't one, there really is no way to understand beyond calling us weak willed. And how many times have we chastised ourselves for that as well?

I'm not completely sure I understand what you mean by an Addicts Angel but I see in the poem things that hit home in me.

How many years were you an addict don't mind me asking and how long you been clean? I understand your poem, You speak of an addict, one that sees no love, In an addicts eyes its hard to craps the concept of love and feeling and caring, addicts don't give a crape not even about theirselves, I seen meth heads junkies, coke heads, pot heads, alcohalics. I seen pill poppers all the abuse and self hurt. I seen the rage the chaotic limb. Now if you an angel than hey im happy for you I wont deny that. I have seen a lot speak of God idk why or what makes this feeling happen when one is high. Maybe God is talking maybe its just an idea idk. Maybe you cold put some light on that. I was an addict Pot pills alcohol , I did it too escape pain. Its funny you can ask an addict why they get high and not 1 can answer why. I been clean ever sense 2009 to now very proud of that.
