Dream Possiblities

Dream Possiblities

A Poem by Lalli

Dream Possibilities

I dream
About dreams…about dreams
My imagination is endless
Continuous but abrupt
Rough, then filled with finesse
Since dreams are not restricted to finite reasoning
They are the extravagant thoughts of our subconscious

I’ve gone back in time and written plays with Shakespeare
We stayed up all night hallucinating with harlots
Dancing with meteorite fairies on the moon

I was the water that Jesus walked upon
The papyrus that his apostles penned
I learned lessons through the catechisms of his disciples
Who were nothing but ordinary men
Though easily susceptible to the temptations of the corrupt
They became tough through the strength gained from faith
Turning them into martyrs in the end
Because they wouldn’t let anyone tell them what they could believe in

I dream
About dreams…about dreams
They originate in destiny’s garden
Another fork-splitting path with different outcomes, but there’s no outlined map
I’ve seen the lost despair of a plane in the sunset with nowhere to land
With no direction, it turns into sand and falls
As it’s planned

I’ve witnessed an Armageddon with no end
An unforeseen battle where Destiny disproved the theory behind his identity
Since he disagreed with God and the Devil
Leaving everyone in delirium with songs unsung
Proving that there is no set path
That we choose our way through Fortune's maze
That we shape our future by the decisions we make

I dream
About dreams…about dreams
Where cancer is no longer the silent killer
Instead, it has the positive affects of steroids
It pumps the body up and makes a person stronger
There’s no need for a cure
Doctors vanish to obsolete
No need to face the pain of chemotherapy and cell mutating destruction
And no need to say goodbye to families

Because in dreams
Anything is possible
Anything is possible and all thoughts are entertained

And that is exactly why
I dream
About dreams…about dreams

Wow very powerful... if we stop dreaming then we might as well stop breathing...

I dream
About dreamsabout dreams
They originate in destiny's garden
Another fork-splitting path with different outcomes, but there's no outlined map

I like this part for dreams do have endless possibilities, I am sure this went over great at the reading.

Hey You,
Long time no talk to. Thought I would stop by and see what you were up to and I stumbled upon this piece. I love that dreams are full of endless possibilities. That they can go on any path you choose and that you will always end up somewhere new. Dreams are the place where our imaginations take us. Shel Silverstien said,

"If you are a dreamer, come in,
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!"

Never stop dreaming, you never know where they will take you. Good luck with the reading. I'd love to know how it turns out.

This was awesome. It had a story and it had emotion. There was nothing in this that could be summed up in a few sentences or thoughts but really it has a variety of thoughts, emotions and feelings throughout. I really liked the almost song like quality with a chorus between each stanza. Great work.

Good poem Lalli! I think this would be a good one to read there! I love the premise and the repeated "I Dream about dreams....about dreams". But I still want you to go harder. I loved going back to be with Shakespeare and Jesus, but I would've loved for you to be "dreamier" and keep going! So many magnificent and tragic things have happened in history that I would've loved to see what your dream would've been like! A less talented writer, I would've been just happy with the pace, but I know your work, and it just being my opinion, I would've loved to see it gone further.

Your rhyme scheme and words were perfect once again, and I loved moments like....

"I dream
About dreamsabout dreams
They originate in destiny's garden
Another fork-splitting path with different outcomes, but there's no outlined map
I've seen the lost despair of a plane in the sunset with nowhere to land
With no direction, it turns into sand and falls
As it's planned"

Your mind is just elsewhere sometimes when I read s**t like this. Exceptional!

I dream
About dreamsabout dreams...welcome to the club, my friend.

This is special. You spoke of things that are deep and thats where it went. But this piece gets to the heart quickly. I love it!!
