The Key Chain

The Key Chain

A Poem by Lunette Lariz
"

I am but a little sister to him.

"
School's done, it is summer now.
Relax, rest, I tell myself.
I lean on the nearest wall,
But my wandering eyes rested on a wardrobe that is towering tall.

Something clicked on my mind.
That is no ordinary clothes-keeper.
Inside of that is a thing I treasure,
A thing that brings joy, and sorrow I sometimes cannot endure.

Yet this is me,
I don't mind hurting my feelings, my heart.
I would consider myself a masochist,
But maybe, my mind wouldn't insist.

Is that placed at the bottom?
I could hardly recall it, but I am right.
I found my memoir box.
And it seems like it has glaring eyes that mocks.

I brushed the dust off,
Like how I want to push my sadness away.
I opened it, unsure of what I will see,
since it was hidden for I think was a century.

Nothing's changed.
All of my stuff were still here:
my letters, ribbons, photographs.
Then I began to shudder, like an earthquake detected by seismographs.

That little thing caught my attention,
But before I move a muscle,
A tear rolled down my left cheek.
Oh yes, there is no doubt. I am very much weak.

I never knew I still have this feeling.
I really knew I didn't have this at all!
I didn't have this! Or did I still?
Somebody call a doctor! I think I am ill!

I touched the delicate thing,
As another tear came rolling down my other cheek.
It doesn't make me feel better,
This key chain imprinted with "MY LITTLE SISTER".

It came from him,
Him who matters to me,
Who changed my vision about love and my being,
Who marked a place in my heart without him knowing.

He doesn't have a teeny bit of idea.
He doesn't know he is my first love.
He surely thinks I am too young for this,
But listen to me, I am just younger than him for two years!

Maybe I'm young, yes, I am small,
But his love made me think older,
And I don't mind being small in his eyes,
Because I remember he said, "You look cute for your size."

He has this stocky build,
A kayumanggi skin.
He stood like a king,
And his voice.. oh, his voice! It is so mesmerizing.

Again, he doesn't have an idea.
He doesn't have a clue that when I hear his voice,
I would stammer, I would choke,
I would jump in surprise, I would even ignore a joke.

His face is innocent,
A true symbolism of his pure heart.
He is not perfect, though.
Nobody is perfect, there isn't anyone. No.

But I love him,
Just like a child loves candies,
Like fan girl loves her crush.
Believe me, he captured my heart even before I could say, "Oh my gosh!"

However, it is impossible.
He doesn't like my type.
I have accepted that,
But why does it kill me again like a deep cut?

First love never dies, I would make this untrue,
I would forget his memories, and his so-called love, too.
I should keep this key chain hidden in dim,
For I am nothing but a little sister to him.

First love never dies...
Hope you succeed in making it untrue..
I'll pray for your success..

"A thing that brings joy, and sorrow I sometimes cannot endure."
This reminds me of my ring...

"I would consider myself a masochist,"
You're not one for me... 'Cause I see you as a fighter...

"First love never dies, I would make this untrue,
I would forget his memories, and his so-called love, too.
I should keep this key chain hidden in dim,
For I am nothing but a little sister to him."
This part reminds me of Annabeth from Percy Jackson... Instead of a key chain, it's a bronze knife...

Look who says I'm in love (T_T)
You're clearly in love too..

Hahaha. Yeaaa.
I really love it!
First love really does hurt. It doesn't mean that we should forget them just because we mean nothing to them. Instead, we should treasure and cherish those memories because they have thought us what is love.

Thanks a million! :) I will.
Well done I do say, and the peaceful manner of expressing powerful emotions. I daresay I love the connection between the different kinds of love you state between yours and theirs, wondrous, I do say. Well done.
