Through The Eyes of Death

Through The Eyes of Death

A Poem by Whiskurz

Nothing will ever look the same
When you're told you're going to die
The things you took for granted
Will no longer pass you by
The flowers become more beautiful
'Cause you take the time to smell
And the things that went unnoticed
Now live to say farewell
The things you touch seem different
While marveling at the feel
You wonder why you have to die
To make things seem so real
The gentle winds that kiss your face
Now bring you to your knees
You never notice until it's too late
The joy that's in the breeze
The past becomes your future
Remembering your mistakes
You live each day to right the wrong
No matter what it takes
The hardest part is saying goodbye
To all the people you love
One more day is all you want
It's all you're thinking of
You're amazed by God's creation
While counting every breath
The world will never look the same
As you look through the eyes of deat

Always take time to stop and smell the flowers, crack a smile when you hear childrens laughter, stand in a thunderstorm and let the rain drench you to the core. In the blink of an eye, it can all be taken away so cruelly and so quickly.
My mother-in law is battling pancreatic cancer. She spoke those very words I've written here to me just a few days ago. I believe I shall take her advice to heart...
Wonderful and touching write...

I like this a lot! It has good flow and emotions. Oh, and at the end, I like how you left the h off of death. I'm not sure if it was on purpose, but I think it's cool because it's like the person died and it shows the suddeness of death. But then again, it maybe takes away some of the seriousness of the poem. I don't know, but either way, great job!

This is a scenario I have thought of many times in my life. What would I do if I knew I was going to die? I have also wondered if I would even want to know....excellent piece.
