Fingers and Toes

Fingers and Toes

A Poem by Whiskurz

She counted His fingers and all of His toes
Like all the good mothers do
She kept all the secrets that nobody knows
Well maybe a few others knew
She raised Him to be the best He could be
While teaching Him right from wrong
She dreaded the things that she'd have to see
And she knew that it wouldn't be long
A miracle birth like never before
A virgin gives birth to a Son
Her first born child she'd love and adore
But knowing what has to be done
He laid down His life to redeem what was lost
Though He never commited a crime
Born to become the ultimate cost
Defying the essence of time
She counted His fingers and all of His toes
Like she did when He was born
The grief on her face as the pain plainly shows
Her heart now broken and torn
