Misty-eyed Girl

Misty-eyed Girl

A Poem by Laurierose
"

Confronting yourself

"
Hey there,
You misty-eyed girl
I know you and those eyes
I'm all too familiar
I've worn them myself
You're feeling pretty crestfallen, huh?
All your cards were down
You bared yourself
Peeled away layers
And eventually you were naked
In every sense
Hey there,
You misty-eyed girl
I know you and that smile
I've had one of those before
That smile that wasn't much happy at all
It's one of those, "tragic smiles"
That are only tragic because
The sincerity and luster;
Radiance,
Passed away
Hey there,
You misty-eyed girl
I know who you are
You're not weak because you bared yourself
That's honest
You're no crestfallen tragedy
I promise
So hey there, you misty-eyed girl
Don't cry for tears that already fell
Take pride in your story and make it yours to tell
I know you

Mirrors often lie when THEY talk to us... and yet we can't seem to lie when WE talk to them - sigh, go figure.

So many like "Line Dancing" -
at a point it becomes mindless,
breath-taking, body-shuffling,
soul-numbingly ...automatic...
and there's only "I's" -
trying so hard to MIRROR
other "I's"
'til the "attraction" ends
and each floats away -
flotsam ...lost...
in the "see" of life.

Great advice, sometimes when we can only see our small picture world it takes the voices of others to back it up and let the big picture become available again. This writing does that in spades. Loved it!
