Unforgettable

Unforgettable

A Poem by Laurierose
"

Sincerely.

"

Dear Darling,

Do you remember?

Our story

The one where we saved each other

From falling too hard

In love, like, guilt

But in the end

It happened

Do you remember?

Our song

The one with lyrics that stretched

Our truth

So many miles long

Do you remember?

Our palms

The way they held on to so many

Slippery slopes

And weathered much more than

They could grasp

Do you remember?

Our flame

The one that burned so bright

It outshone the sun

And overwhelmed starlight

Do you remember?

Our time

It stood so still

So still we could hardly look back,

Overlook, or rewind

-With Love,

Me

and the feeling i get here is that both parties thought themselves right out of the relationship...the fantasy looked and sounded great...but then the reality was too scary.
nothing to really rewind.
i like the pace, and i like the somewhat surprise ending.

I wonder at the very end how many couples walk away wondering how the hell it lasted as long as it did.
Mind you, time does have this thing about torturing your soul.

Sometimes we have to think back for a chance of love ahead. Thank you for the thoughtful review!
i feel if you spaced your lines out a bit to emphasis certain parts it will come across a much stronger delivery

I am left with a sense of wonder if the anticipated sketch of each other measured up to wanting and the interrelation in the unfolding coming true was a whirlwind disappointment but at the end the question mark of the crossed out me also gives me inference that it wasn't of a lover but of the love of self in this depiction or perhaps a bit of both.... but nicely penned reflections Laurie regardless of intent it makes me think

oh i see that now too
deeply loving words but filled with regret. there is nothing like the feeling of being in love. when we're deeply in love, we feel as if nothing could ever stop it. yes, they say that love is blind and things happen or eyes are opened. life happens. sometimes we're in love with the idea of being in love more than the other person themselves. no matter what we do, it happened and is not going away and we can't go back and change the past. it hurts and is temporary but we can take comfort in good memories - that is the beauty of loving... :)

I loved the above lines. We do remember and the rewinding of time. Sweet dreams. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You're welcome.
we all weave stories.... all stories are not fairy tale...
few break us apart...and few remain in memory as once upon a time...
then few manage to be a part of the horror stories :)
and few just remain without any closure... i feel these are the worst kinds..
i enjoyed reading you poem... very nicely done..

You are most welcome.
Looking back is for those who have finished the journey and made the trip. It's not for the journeyman or the pilgrim. Tomorrow is a map planned by those who travel...wondering what new adventures and exciting experiences lay ahead...here's to living every day making every tomorrow as filled with good memories as yesterday and never stopping until the trip is done. Like the fellow said, "There's no future living in the past." As for things finished...some things are in the past for a reason. I enjoyed the read.
