HOPE

Can something be so beautiful and destructive,

It can get us through the toughest times,

When expectations aren’t reached

We are left with souring disappointment,

Hurt and anger gets aimed at hope.

Hope a four letter word,

A powerful word,

Once you hope be prepared to lose yourself,

All the scenarios rush past,

The mind won’t stop thinking,

Processing alternative endings,

But what if none ever come true.

Slowly but surely we lose hope,

Never again to hope for another,

In fear of the entailments of let down.
