The Independent Nation

The Independent Nation

A Poem by Legion
"

A song I wrote about seperating from this country as an individual and declaring one's self as an independent nation.

"

The Independent Nation

Chastised by the beaten land,
Its elastic laws and civil lies.
Burdened by its inept constrictions,
He soon cleaves the judicial ties
And declares his independence;
Brings forth an indoctrination
To change the course of the Manifest.
He stands, an independent nation.

Jurisprudence distributes the rights of all his fellow man,
But the Scales of Justice are exploited to measure gold.
Liberty has been blind and mute for two-hundred years or more;
Her face only shows contempt for the message that She holds.
A torch She waves to dispel the night; the impending judgment
Of the futility of the fugitives She has lured astray.
Her dress, a mangled mass of vesture, cloaks the pale frailty
That hides beneath a gesture that conceals political constrain.

But the State of the Union's
Got him in a constant state of rage.
He believed in the System,
But the System's now estranged.
He began to detach himself
From Babylon's decrepit form.
Baptized with woe in Acheron,
An independent nation was born.

Ab initio, he contained the knowledge of indifference,
Of social regulation and its degradation.
He saw through the misconception of "all men are equal"
And condemned the act of economical segregation.
The Constitution gave the right to the citizens it bound
In a papier-mache cliche filled with words that are silent.
The pen, in good intentions, spewed the poison of rhetoric
In which its captives continue in innocent arrogance.

And the independent nation,
Standing solemnly alone, cries,
With no fortitude or strength
(Only desperation) "Why?".

Dear Legion,

A wonderful, thought inspiring poem of frustration in the law of liberty but its denial in actual fact. Frustrating, I know! But that is why there are laws in the first place, because Man left without guiding law is still animalistic and so often ignores higher purpose and goes with the fears and desires of the instant. We'll not be beyond Man's faults in this regard any time soon.

Best regards,

Rick

...'and the walls came tumbling down'- a standing ovation right back at ya legion. This is a fantastic work of art- I am ever so slightly in awe! I really wish that I could come up with something so righteously symbolic about my own nation and it's ideals of granduer. Papier mache indeed and to use another cliche' -this is poetry in motion. Love it and this will be my first favourite- just as soon as I work out how to do so! I'm really impressed by your work- I'm off to read the trenches one now! spence

This is a wonderful stand on your beliefs and I admire you for that. We are caught up in so much trivial and red tape, that we can't get out of our own way, there has been deep damage done to this world, that we have forgotten what freedom really means and who should have the real power to decide, WE THE PEOPLE, should decide. We sugar coat everything is this country and those that are too ignorant or don't care, or haven't the intelligence to know, they really don't know what goes on and allow others to make decisions for them, that is part of the problem. We have really lost the reason for existance and for what really matters in the end. This is a great piece of work you have written.

This is genius. I keep thinking to myself...where will we go? Where and how will we live? I keep waiting and keep a silent vigil for this great "earthquake" of awakening in the people.

In kindred kind,
Todd

I have to agree with your thinking So many things wrong with THE SYSTEM Courts do nor give justice only legal interpretations. Those who have wealth have undue power But beware thinking independently is a dangerous luxury.
