A Monument for the Moment

A Monument for the Moment

A Poem by Legion
"

Another old piece found. This was written in memory of Frank Herbert the creator of the "Dune" series. I tried to imagine all his characters and worlds slowly dying after his death and knowing it. Fortunately his son has carried on the torch.

"

A Monument for the Moment

  The wind grows colder

By the moment.

  Moments come and go

Like faces in a crowd.

  All those faces,

Not one did I know.

  I see dreams

Left dangling,

  Unfinished.

  I feel hearts

Weeping in silence,

  Afraid to.

  I hear whispers

Talking in shadows

  About the impending night.

  I smell sweat,

A chilled fever

  From dying worlds.

  I taste regret

For not staying,

  But the moment is up.

  Moments,

Grains of sand on a beach.

  Sand goes with the tide.

  The wind grows colder,

By the moment.

Well done for the contest. I like this piece and the person that it honors, I am not an avaid fan of his work but respect the works he has created and the people he has entertained with his writing!
