Burning

Burning

A Poem by Legolas

The temple burns bright.

Many flames licking shoji doors,

a beacon at night

What's a shoji?
I like how this rhymes lalala!!. :) (I sang that btw).
Sorry, slightly hyper. (Suuuugggarrrrrr.... :)))))
ok.
Your word imagery is fantastic. That's something I struggle with when writing Haikus. Just three lines to convey so much. I don't know how you do it. :)
Good job!

Thank you for your kind words. No, this had nothing to do with religion. It was simply a Japanese house burning at night. But thank you:)

The image of flames consuming the temple is very well described here. What makes me wonder is how deep did you think about this poem? Did you mean to use these words as a symbol for religion, that a religious Japanese temple is burning down; or was it simply an image of fire crawling into the room through the door? My apologies for rambling, this thought just came to mind.
Anyhoo, you've done a fine job with this piece.
