Leaving

Leaving

A Poem by Legolas

I wake up so early to talk.
Even if it's only for a few minutes,
before you have to leave.
The saddest part of my day.

I want to scream, "Stay here with me!"
I don't though.
You live so far away.
With you I want to be, forever.

Eight hours later, you arrive back home.
Sometimes depressed.
Sometimes happy.
It doesn't matter which way, I am happy that you're back.

I always ask you, "Are you mine for the night?"
Most of the time, it's a no.
You have other things to do.
Other friends to be with.

So rarely is it a yes.
When you get back home after an evening with friends,
you seem so happy.
It's late though so you must sleep.

I am sad you have to go.
I am sad you have to sleep.
I am sad you have to say, "Goodbye".
I am sad you have to leave.

Wow! Amazing poem! I really loved it, Legolas! So humble, so earnest, such a well written plea! I wanted to pick out my favourite line, but I couldn't, just couldn't. Each line is so well written and holds such beauty. Great poem, I loved it! Keep writing!

This is amazing, there is so much emotion in your words without you making them emotional, if that makes sense! The honesty in the simple lines speak volumes. WOW! just WOW!

Wow, i love this peom, yeah I see that a you can have sadness.

But for me, i will try to look forwards to the optimism to be able to hold him while I sleep... :) however, instead of bye, I always say see you later... and then look towards the waut, where even if he leaves, he returns :) but if he doesn't make more time for you, that may be another thing... although i dont do relationships, if i decided to concern myself with that aspect it would be that..

I'm sorry to hear that Caradoc. I know, I just wanted to tell you.
This piece is beautiful and sad. Such an innocent, harmless seeming thing as to leave and come back, to be with friends. And yet sometimes we have an attachment, so strong, that we can't help our thoughts and feelings of "mine". We can't help but one them all for ourselves, if only for a night, if only for a moment.

I wonder, is it so selfish to want someone thus?

Excellent, excellent poem. My favorite line is, "Are you mine for the night?"

It has such power.

Yep.
This is a wonderful piece of writing. Each word is emotion-packed and laden with truth. You didn't hide anything in this poem, you laid your emotions out in the open yet you did it so artistically and beautifully that the bare truth is hard to notice as what it is. I told you my reviews sometimes make no sense, I'm sorry. I just wanted to say that I love the poem and you did a wonderful job, congratulations!
