Lovely Lei

Lovely Lei

A Poem by Lei
"

''Untold stories from the falling petals of a Lei, loosing her strength, her vibrant colors and the corolla that once connected to her sage roots, that was once perfect, no longer exist.''

"

Lovely Lei, he calls my name

screaming softly

sweet graceful

why can’t I feel his spoken love?

An emptiness exists, there is no trust

words not valid

lies have tallied

I cannot forgive…

My aching heart

his cold embrace

resentful thoughts take his place

I can hear the lovely

in the scream’s he states

Lovely, Lei

No, wait!

Not now.

Estranged and in void

get me out of this place, dear Lord

Let it go

start a new beginning

let me learn what life left unfinished

The warming dates

the hikes we take

cuddling stories next to fishing lakes

Take me home

when life made sense

let me release this staggering mess

This bed of lies

this loner life

this, let no one in, Lei

 this train I ride.

The need to keep going, don’t stop the pace

the face of my life left cold and dazed

gone so fast, but no one knew

Knew her name, although he said it so well

he didn't love her, her heart could tell

Through the stare in his eyes

the whisper of his voice

the untold lies that he prepared and rehearsed

Let me go

my lover, my friend

let me try to live again

live with, myself

my comfortable world

my lonely liking secret, I must endure

my longing sigh

that's what I am

I do not know how to hold your hand

how to love you again

how to accept the past

how to live again

how to breathe at last

My choking pain

I can’t help wonder what’s left to gain

in a spinning world,

a world that's mine

A mind full of pain,

a puzzled thought

a harden life that you have taught

To the girl with an eager mind

one who never unwinds

replaying… replaying… replaying…

no sleep.

How could that possibly be lovely?

Lei

This is the dilemma all hearts that have been hurt must endure. Do we keep up our defences and make sure as much as possible that we aren't hurt again, or do we take that chance that this one might be different? The love, the smiles and companionship are all things we want, yet they are the same things that lead to loss and ache. Personally, I'm amazed that this whole couple thing took off like it did, but I am just an old cynic, who has known hurt enough to know that those walls ain't coming down again without dynamite :)
Beautifully captured Lei.
