Self Destruction

Self Destruction

A Poem by Lesley Wood
"

My fires burn on the outside, and my fire is flesh...

"

My fires burn

On the outside,

And my fire

Is FLESH

That flickers & widens

Out of control

Greed and over consumption

Is truly the root of all EVIL

My horns grow longer. &

My roots, my roots,

my roots are on FIRE.

How to quench

How to put

This DESIRE-

OUT!

GONE!

Buried & forgotten

This DESIRE,

This FLESH

Needs to fade

Into GRAY

Into BLACK

Into sweet oblivion.

Heavy shackles

Heavy chains

Need to bind this DEVIL

Steel doors &

Heavy traps

Under solid stone;

This EVIL

Please go.
