A Better World

A Better World

A Poem by Leslie Philibert

China will be declared part of the Peoples Republic of Tibet ; Somalia will send
food parcels to the Swiss and the Mexicans will build a fence to prevent illegal
immigration from the United States. There will be a Queen in Saudia Arabia and
P***y Riot will be elected to the Duma. The Taliban will build a church in Kabul
and invite the Pope and his wife to open it. Fast food will slow down ; the Israelis
will paint their nuclear weapons gay pink and ship them to Iran , North Korea will
be renamed Happyville.A clown will be named President of the World Bank and
North Africa wll accept refugees from Europe.

Facebook will discover that friends are real people,my sons might understand that
my car needs petrol and my wife will stop buying shoes.

And if you thought that poetry can`t change anything, you are right.
But it`s worth a try, isn`t it ?

A dream of utopia.. The new way in which you have portrayed it made me smile ;).. A very good attempt. Yes the terror and political restlessness between countries hampers the normal life of the people.Yes you mentioned Facebook- o yea friends can be real on FB if they are not dupes.. well written ;)

It is very difficult to read this and not to smile at first, grin nearly inmendiately after and consequently burst a good laugh Leslie. Also you could have continued at will should have you choosed it as for yuxtapositions that make no sense are a plenty. I also like how some of them intended or not are metaphors of some significance.

Very clever .

On a more personal level a few of my own:
A duck's quack doesn't echo.
Elephants can't jump. Every other mammal can.
We drive on parkways and park on driveways.

Leslie, I think I've read this one before but upon reexamination there are two words that pop out at me. Perhaps a more rare type of poem, one that employs Opptimistic-sarcasm. That's an unusual combinaton but flavorful; like sweet-&-sour. It goes well with a lot of other thoughts, compliments and hilights them too. Change? Yes, it is worth the try, worth the effort. How else can we know?

100 curious combinations

Though I read this a while ago, it is still putting a smile on my face. Don't think any of these things will come to pass, but it's nice to know others would like them to! Very clever. Lydi**

Funny how humour can often make the point better than rhetoric. And yes, it is worth a try.

Beccy.

All those things could happen though the least likely is that your wife would stop buying shoes lol

Worth a try, as this poem was more than worth a read - some food for thought flavored with humor here. :)
