A Winter Poem

A Winter Poem

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a winter poem for the end of 2014

"
The trinity of trees
Ice and weak light,
Bitter as the

Sharp cold, pools
Of thin water that
Grab like trolls at

Heavy ankles, breath
That steams off a
Horse`s back,

And the sky, the sky
Enamel under
An artic moon;

The year closed
Like a wet copse
Standing in the frost.

I really like the last grouping. The only trouble with winter, it lasts much too long. Valentine

Wonderful poem for my favourite season of the year ... even though, I might guess you don't like it that much ! I really loved the images, very suggestive.

To write so closely and well about what you see takes skill.

Poignant, profound, and provocative.

Wow, very impressive descriptions in this amazing poem. Dark and dreary as winger can sometimes seem.

The feeling of cold in this piece is so very palpable. It reads like a willingness, nay a desire to shed the old, cold, unforgiving year?
