Flight of the Osprey

Flight of the Osprey

A Poem by LeslieNoel
"

I often enjoy watching nature as I feel like I am my true self while doing so. I have been watching an Osprey nest lately and here is the inspiration I gained from it.

"
The shrill shriek of the Osprey
Slices through the atmosphere
Like a sharpened carving knife
Her Earthy brown wing tips
Gleam in the risen, golden sun
While soft white feathers below
Ripple from air currents

Her keen eye scans rolling tides
For signs of fish
As her pupils dilate
She hones in on her catch
The meal of the day
Nourishment that keeps
This regal beauty surviving
Thriving

Swiftly she dips her body downwards
Diving down
Down until fins and flesh
Hath availed themselves
To the claws of her feet

In a proud flight
Of feather and aerial dance
Osprey heads back
To her strong, enlarged nest
Fortified with thickened branches
To share her bounty
With her life's mate
