Alone

Alone

A Poem by Peyton Light
"

A short poem I wrote a few months ago.

"

What is it like to be all alone?

To be in a place where it always snows.

When all around you the cold wind blows,

And you trek on, to the deep unknown.

What is it like to be by yourself?

To be put away like a toy on a shelf.

To sit there and wait for someone else,

Cursed never to leave that destitute well.

What is it like to live every day,

Knowing that no matter what you say,

You cannot run from the things that you’ve done,

They will always be there, they never go away.

It’s so hard to live life all alone in the dark,

But you know that the past has left its deep mark.

All you want is to start over again,

But all you can do is wait ‘til the end.

A mutual friend on wc sent me here.

I feel as though this poem describes different ways, we are human being end up isolated. The second stanza feels like a plea. The final one, resignation. But thst third one feels a little defiant. I think this person has strength yet.

I loved this poem. I feel like it has much knowledge behind the words and emotion. I really like the comparison you made with the toy on the shelf. Well written!

Thank you. I still feel like this is my best poem.
I liked this poem, it has tons of emotion in it and its written from the heart. Some of the best writes are written from the heart.
I felt this was also deep, with allot of feeling, and meaning as well.
I liked the rhyming though some of it rhymed and some of it didn't.
I think its best to choose one or the other, to rhyme all the way through, or don't rhyme at all.
Either way is good but half half isn't the best in my opinion.
Over all I really liked this poem well written :)

It reads smooth and easy. There are one or two words that could be taken out but the meter sounds okay to me. I like the font.

Wanting to start over again is common, I wish I could do it too but that's life. We must learn from our mistakes and move forward.

Good poem.

This is quite an introspection. I enjoy being alone; as well as the company of others. I wonder if we can truly be completely alone. Without thought, feeling, sense; even without ourselves. Is that type of complete solitude a possibility? Without the sitting, or the waiting, or the running. Can we even be without the past, or the future; even the present. Can we be that alone? To a solitude in which not even awareness or unawareness can take part in it? I wonder if such alone-ness is truly achievable. I enjoy your writing. Great job, Peyton.
