The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins

A Poem by Askew

The seven deadly sins
I make sure to exhibit them all

With sloth I relax
And take the time to care for myself

Greed keeps me from wasting my money
And pushes me to earn more

Anger keeps me strong
And prevents others from walking all over me

With lust comes the pleasure of men
And I keep myself satisfied

With gluttony I can taste every country
And experience sweet and savory

Envy drives me to do better
Until I win what I want

And pride does the most for me

It helps me stand up straight
In the face of danger

And helps me battle
Those who aim to harm me

Pride keeps me tall
When the safest thing would be to fall

KEEP ON STANDING up for your beliefs....
This is so well said and so well stressed outward.
I really like this write, nicely presented

Aren’t we all laced with sins as you say and much more. Maybe you didn’t recognize but you penned down a very spectacular lines which I quote

“Pride keeps me tall
When the safest thing would be to fall”

That’s a powerful statement!!

Nice write!

A lot has been said about this one, and I understand why. It touches something withing me.I often struggle putting myself first. It reminds me, sometimes it's okay to sin. It's okay to take care of myself, my needs, my wants.

No one should be scared to love themselves and take care of themselves. Thanks for sharing.

I guess you allude to the natural equilibrium of life. Self-love, self-protection, self-esteem, self-sufficiency, self-drive, and balanced self-indulgence are all aspects of our lives which draw on (one way or another) the seven dealy sins. You are being true to yourself, without hypocrisy, when you point out this notion of how the 'seven deadly sins' are intrisincally linked with our biological make up and behavioural characteristics, as survival and defence mechanisms,
so long as the general welfare and love of humanity is our genuine and appropriate intention.

WELL DONE

I enjoyed reading this. The way you turned around the concept of the sins was interesting and I think held a lot of truth. Often things that we might consider "bad" or "wrong" or "to be avoided" are actually necessary. For example, as you pointed out, nobody would get anywhere without a little greed or envy.

Great write, wonderful scripted and displayed. And projected. Great advice held within. About pride for oneself.
