Shower Me With Gems, Not Love

Shower Me With Gems, Not Love

A Poem by Askew

I will marry rich and old
Man after man
And stand idly by
With sparkling fake tears
And my crimson smile hidden behind
An expensive handkerchief
I will watch each die
And put on the perfect act
Playing the part of the broken bride
Until my next man comes along

I'll have diamonds and pretty things
Instead of heartbreak and little deaths

Lexi - too bad you are not the girl for me. Not rich enough to probably even provide the handkerchief you would pretend to use at my funeral, if you went to it. This though is a very clever piece of writing, I trust it is not a confessional, but then again, what the hell!

Take care - Dave

A good facsimile of what kind of attitude some women can have.

Wow, what a black widow you will become. I am laughing because in the news you sometimes hear about women who do just that. What's more the old men they marry are very happy with the arrangement. They like to be seen with a beautiful young woman draped over them. Gold diggers they are, callous, but they are out there.
Well written, with just the right amount of sting. Saves you having to worry about a career :)
